Nexor launches Sentinel, a border product designed to enforce system and site-specific security policies
As part of its continuing strategy to enhance and expand its military messaging portfolio, Nexor is pleased to announce an agreement with British Aerospace (BAe) for Nexor to act as exclusive European re-seller for BAe's High Assurance Guard, to be marketed as Nexor Sentinel. Nexor will also have non-exclusive rights to sell the product globally outside the USA.
A significant enhancement to Nexor's product range. Sentinel was originally developed as the DigitalNet High Assurance MMHS Mail Guard for the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND) MMHS programme. Sentinel (certified to EAL 5 level) resides at the boundary between security enclaves and there provides enclave-level security by enforcing the system and site-specific security policies that govern the transfer of electronic messages between domains.
Sentinel bases its security decisions about each message on release and admittance polices selected by the administrator, which are then strictly enforced by the Guard. These policies include confidentiality, integrity, data origin authentication, access control, non-repudiation with proof of origin and non-repudiation with proof of delivery. As a trusted interface, it provides a robust message transfer filter between classified and sensitive but unclassified enclaves and networks. This opens up communication while still protecting information, thus enabling users to accomplish missions safely, responsively and cost-effectively.
Sentinel has been designed for easy administration and can support a variety of systems and programmes, which can be expanded further on a project basis. It incorporates the S/MIMEV3 with Extended Security Services (ESS) protocol and includes support for both SMTP and X.400 messaging.
